Job Overview

The Operations Planning Manager will lead the end‑to‑end planning function for the Rwamagana logistics hub. This role is responsible for designing, optimizing, and executing freight movement schedules, warehouse space allocation, and resource deployment to meet service level agreements and cost targets. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the manager will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including transportation, customs, IT, and customer service, to ensure seamless flow of goods. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain weekly and monthly operations plans for inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring alignment with customer demand and capacity constraints.
• Analyze historical data and market trends to forecast volume fluctuations and adjust resource allocation accordingly.
• Coordinate with transportation partners, customs brokers, and internal teams to optimize routing, reduce dwell times, and improve on‑time delivery performance.
• Implement continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other process‑enhancement methodologies.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order fulfillment rate, inventory turnover, and cost per ton‑kilometer, and report findings to senior leadership.
• Lead a team of planners and analysts, providing coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and company policies across all operational activities.
• Collaborate with the IT department to integrate advanced planning software and real‑time tracking tools.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
• Proficiency in logistics planning software (e.g., SAP TM, Oracle Transportation Management) and advanced Excel.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
• Knowledge of Rwanda’s customs procedures, road infrastructure, and regional trade agreements.
• Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications will be considered an advantage.

Experience

Minimum of five years of progressive experience in logistics operations planning, preferably within a multinational logistics provider or large‑scale distribution environment. Experience in East Africa or emerging markets is highly valued.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from 800,000 to 1,200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
