Job Overview

The Network Optimization Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, analyzing, and improving MTN Rwanda’s radio access network (RAN) to ensure optimal performance, capacity, and reliability. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, the engineer will apply advanced analytics, simulation tools, and field measurements to identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and implement enhancements. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive network performance assessments using drive‑test data, KPI analysis, and simulation models.
• Develop and implement optimization plans to improve coverage, capacity, and quality of service.
• Collaborate with radio planning, engineering, and operations teams to align optimization activities with rollout schedules.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network issues, providing root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
• Support the integration and performance validation of new technologies, including 5G and IoT solutions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry standards, vendor equipment, and emerging technologies.
• Contribute to the development of best practices, tools, and processes for network optimization.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in network performance tools (e.g., Atoll, Mentum, TEMS).
• In‑depth understanding of LTE/5G radio principles, architecture, and optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and presentation skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in data analysis software such as Excel, R, or Python.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications or a Master’s degree in a relevant field are advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to professional growth.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in telecom network optimization, preferably within a mobile operator environment. Experience with LTE and early‑stage 5G deployments is highly valued.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 800,000 to SSP 1,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance.
