Job Overview
This role is critical for ensuring IBM Rwanda adheres to international data protection standards and local regulations. The Data Privacy Officer will lead initiatives to protect client and organizational data, conduct risk assessments, and foster a culture of privacy awareness across teams. This position aligns with IBM’s global mission to prioritize cybersecurity and ethical technology use.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement data privacy policies aligned with GDPR, ISO 27001, and Rwanda’s Data Protection Law.
- Conduct regular audits to identify vulnerabilities in data handling processes.
- Provide training to employees on data privacy best practices and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with legal and IT teams to resolve data breach incidents promptly.
- Monitor emerging privacy regulations and recommend updates to internal protocols.
- Act as the primary point of contact for data subject access requests and regulatory inquiries.
Required Skills
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in data governance, risk management, or cybersecurity.
- Strong understanding of encryption, anonymization, and secure data storage techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda preferred.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Law, or a related field. Advanced degrees (Master’s or Juris Doctor) are a plus.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in data privacy, compliance, or cybersecurity roles. Experience in multinational organizations or regulated industries is advantageous.
Salary
3,500,000 – 4,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
