The Accountant will support financial management activities related to donor-funded programs financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in partnership with humanitarian and development stakeholders.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring smooth and compliant financial operations by handling the following duties:
Financial Management & Accounting
- Record and classify all accounting transactions accurately in the accounting system.
- Process accounts payable and receivable while ensuring financial accuracy.
- Verify supporting documentation for all payments and disbursements before approval.
- Prepare and process vendor payments, payroll transactions, and staff reimbursements.
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures and donor funding requirements.
Banking & Reconciliation
- Manage organizational bank accounts, cash flow, and treasury operations.
- Perform accurate bank reconciliations and maintain updated financial records.
- Monitor account balances and provide monthly liquidity analysis.
- Coordinate effectively with banking institutions and financial stakeholders.

Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare monthly and periodic financial reports for management and donors.
- Ensure compliance with Rwanda tax regulations and statutory obligations.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing supporting financial documentation.
- Maintain proper financial filing systems and accurate accounting records.
- Monitor project expenditures and budget utilization to prevent overspending.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Support logistical and procurement activities when required.
- Coordinate travel bookings, accommodation arrangements, and transport logistics.
- Assist program teams with financial planning and administrative coordination.
- Maintain updated fixed asset inventories and quarterly asset reviews.
Education Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Professional accounting certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
Candidates should have:
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
- Prior work experience in NGOs, INGOs, donor-funded organizations, humanitarian agencies, or development programs is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with financial reporting, bookkeeping, payroll processing, audit preparation, taxation, and compliance management.
- Proven ability to manage accounting systems and donor financial reporting requirements.

Salary & Benefits
