Job Overview
This role involves designing and implementing sustainable urban planning initiatives that integrate green infrastructure, renewable energy systems, and smart city technologies. Key Responsibilities
- Develop urban planning strategies that incorporate green spaces, energy-efficient buildings, and sustainable transportation networks.
- Conduct feasibility studies for green infrastructure projects, including rainwater harvesting systems and solar-powered public lighting.
- Collaborate with municipal authorities to align projects with national sustainability goals and urban development policies.
- Monitor and evaluate the environmental impact of urban planning initiatives using GIS and data analytics tools.
- Engage with local communities to gather input and ensure inclusive development practices.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in urban planning software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcGIS) and sustainability assessment tools.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating land use patterns and environmental data.
- Knowledge of Rwandan urban development regulations and climate adaptation frameworks.
- Excellent project management and report-writing abilities.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline. A Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development or Urban Design is a plus.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in urban planning, green infrastructure development, or related fields. Prior experience in Rwanda or East Africa is preferred.
Salary
500,000 – 800,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
