Job Overview

The Senior Credit Analyst will lead the evaluation, structuring, and monitoring of credit proposals for corporate and commercial clients. Reporting to the Head of Credit Risk Management, the analyst will apply rigorous financial analysis, risk assessment methodologies, and industry expertise to ensure sound lending decisions. The role involves close collaboration with relationship managers, underwriting teams, and senior management to align credit strategies with the bank’s risk appetite. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and ratio analysis for prospective borrowers.
  • Assess credit risk using quantitative and qualitative techniques, including industry trends, competitive positioning, and management quality.
  • Prepare detailed credit proposals, risk ratings, and recommendation reports for approval committees.
  • Monitor existing loan portfolios, identify early warning signals, and recommend remedial actions.
  • Collaborate with relationship managers to structure loan terms that balance client needs with risk controls.
  • Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and Basel III standards.
  • Mentor and train junior credit analysts, promoting best practices in credit assessment.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of credit risk models and scoring tools.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, Excel modeling, and credit assessment tools.
  • Strong understanding of Rwandan banking regulations and international credit standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder interaction.

Education

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

Experience

Applicants must have at least five years of proven experience in credit analysis within a banking or financial services environment. Experience in corporate lending, SME financing, or risk management will be given priority.

Salary
