Since its inception, Letshego Rwanda has operated as a regulated credit-only microfinance institution. In 2013, it obtained a deposit-taking microfinance license from the National Bank of Rwanda.

Position Details

Position: Relationship Officer (RO) 3
Reporting To: Branch Manager
Location: Kimironko and Musanze Branches

Purpose of the Job

The Relationship Officer (RO) plays a key role in customer acquisition, credit assessment, portfolio growth, and client relationship management. The role involves identifying clients, assessing creditworthiness, disbursing microloans, and ensuring timely repayments. It requires a proactive, target-driven individual with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for financial inclusion.

Key Accountabilities

Client Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Identify and recruit new clients through field visits, referrals, and community engagement
  • Conduct orientation and financial literacy sessions
  • Assist clients with loan applications and documentation

Loan Assessment & Disbursement

  • Perform detailed credit assessments including household and business evaluations
  • Prepare and present loan proposals to the Branch Credit Committee
  • Ensure timely loan disbursement in line with policies

Portfolio Management

  • Monitor loan utilization
  • Support clients to ensure productive use of funds
  • Conduct follow-ups for timely repayments
  • Identify early warning signs of repayment challenges

Customer Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong client relationships
  • Address complaints professionally and escalate when required
  • Promote additional financial products (savings, insurance, mobile banking)

Reporting & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of clients and loan files
  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field
  • 1–2 years of experience in microfinance, sales, or customer service (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of credit assessment and micro-lending
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and digital banking tools
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle (valid license is an added advantage)
