Job Description
Kivu Choice is seeking a Quality, Health, and Safety (QHSE) Manager to join its rapidly growing aquaculture operations in Rwanda. This role is ideal for professionals looking for HSE jobs in Rwanda or quality and safety management roles in Africa’s aquaculture industry. Kivu Choice is the country’s largest protein producer and one of Africa’s fastest-growing aquaculture companies, operating a fully integrated model from hatchery to distribution. The QHSE Manager will ensure workplace safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence across all facilities while promoting a strong safety culture and sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments across farms, hatcheries, fleet, and processing units
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure safe working environments
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and aquaculture regulations
- Design and deliver safety training and awareness programs for staff
- Investigate workplace incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Develop and test emergency response plans for operational readiness
- Monitor employee health and safety programs, including occupational health checks
- Prepare and present regular HSE reports and compliance updates to leadership
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into daily operations
- Oversee environmental sustainability initiatives including waste and water management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
- Relevant certifications (First Aid, CPR, Emergency Response Planning, etc.)
- Proven experience in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) roles
- Strong understanding of safety standards and aquaculture regulations
- Excellent analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Attention to detail and technical proficiency
