Job Overview
Bayer Rwanda seeks a Precision Agriculture Systems Engineer to design, implement, and manage advanced agricultural technologies. This role will integrate IoT, data analytics, and automation to revolutionize farming practices in Rwanda. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable solutions for smallholder and commercial farmers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy precision agriculture systems using IoT sensors, drones, and satellite imagery
- Develop algorithms for real-time crop health monitoring and yield prediction
- Integrate AI-driven analytics platforms with farm management software
- Conduct field trials to validate system performance and optimize data collection
- Train farmers and agricultural cooperatives on smart farming technologies
- Collaborate with agronomists to align technical solutions with crop-specific requirements
Required Skills
- Expertise in agricultural IoT systems and data acquisition technologies
- Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL for data analysis
- Experience with GIS mapping and remote sensing tools
- Knowledge of farm automation systems and sensor networks
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on agricultural challenges
- Excellent communication abilities for stakeholder engagement
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required
Experience
- 3-5 years in agricultural technology development
- Proven track record in implementing smart farming solutions
- Experience in Rwanda’s agricultural sector is a plus
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,500,000 Rwandan Francs (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience.
