Job Overview

The Mine Safety Compliance Officer will oversee safety protocols, conduct audits, and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect workers and the environment. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce compliance with mining safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments across mine sites.
- Develop and deliver training programs on safety protocols for mining staff.
- Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to legal requirements.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety performance and compliance metrics.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in mining safety compliance or occupational health and safety.
- Strong knowledge of Rwandan mining regulations and international safety standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to conduct safety audits and interpret technical data.
- Effective communication and leadership capabilities.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and reporting tools.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Advanced certifications in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, CMIOSH) are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years in mining safety compliance, with a focus on operational risk management. Experience in gold mining operations is preferred.
Salary
3,500,000 – 5,500,000 RWF per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
