Job Overview
The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing hydrogen fuel cell systems for a variety of applications, including transportation, power generation, and industrial processes. Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype hydrogen fuel cell stacks, modules, and balance‑of‑plant components tailored to local market needs.
- Conduct performance testing, data analysis, and validation to achieve efficiency targets and reliability standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers and research institutions to source advanced materials and integrate emerging technologies.
- Develop detailed technical documentation, including specifications, schematics, and safety procedures.
- Support the scale‑up of pilot projects to commercial production, ensuring compliance with international standards.
- Provide technical expertise to sales and business development teams for client presentations and proposal preparation.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrochemical principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics related to fuel cells.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS).
- Experience with system integration, control algorithms, and power electronics.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a data‑driven mindset.
- Effective communication skills in English; French or Kinyarwanda is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary project teams.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates holding a Master’s degree or Ph.D. with a focus on fuel cell technology, renewable energy, or hydrogen systems will be given priority.
Experience
Applicants must have at least five years of hands‑on experience in fuel cell design, testing, or related R&D activities. Prior exposure to large‑scale renewable energy projects, especially within the African context, will be considered a strong advantage.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
