Job Overview

The Fitness Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging group fitness sessions, providing personalized training guidance, and ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming recreational environment for guests. This role contributes to enhancing guest wellness experiences through professional fitness instruction and excellent customer service.


Key Responsibilities

1. Fitness Training & Instruction

  • Conduct group fitness classes such as aerobics, spinning, and strength training for all fitness levels.
  • Provide personalized exercise guidance and fitness counseling to guests.
  • Assess individual fitness levels and design customized workout programs.
  • Demonstrate proper use of fitness equipment and techniques.

2. Guest Experience & Engagement

  • Create a fun, motivating, and relaxing fitness environment.
  • Welcome guests warmly and respond to their needs professionally.
  • Assist individuals with disabilities and ensure inclusive participation.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and guest satisfaction.

3. Safety & Emergency Response

  • Monitor activities within the fitness and recreational areas.
  • Respond to emergencies in line with hotel procedures.
  • Provide first aid assistance until medical services arrive.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly.

4. Facility & Equipment Maintenance

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the fitness area.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and report faults to maintenance.
  • Ensure all tools and machines are safe and functional.

5. Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance at all times.
  • Protect guest confidentiality and company assets.
  • Participate in safety training and required certifications.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant fitness or gym experience
  • No supervisory experience required

Required Certifications

  • CPR Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Fitness Instruction Certification
  • Any additional certifications required by local authorities

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage diverse groups
  • Knowledge of fitness techniques and equipment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs (and assist with heavier loads if needed)
  • Perform physical movements such as bending, stretching, and lifting
  • Work in varied environments including stairs and confined spaces
