Driver – Transport & Logistics Operations

Reports To: Transport and Logistics Fleet Coordinator


Job Summary

The Driver will be responsible for providing safe transportation services while supporting daily logistics activities. The role requires strong knowledge of road safety regulations, vehicle maintenance procedures, route planning, and modern fleet management systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to efficient transport operations by maintaining high standards of professionalism, safety, and customer service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and reliable transportation for staff, visitors, and university stakeholders.
  • Operate university vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and institutional policies.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips.
  • Monitor fuel consumption and maintain accurate travel records.
  • Ensure proper handling and transportation of documents, equipment, and university assets.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, incidents, or maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Support fleet management operations through digital reporting tools and GPS systems.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and security at all times.
  • Assist with route planning to optimize transportation efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations and safety standards.
  • Work flexible schedules, including weekends when operational needs require.
  • Coordinate with logistics personnel to support daily transport activities.

Education Requirements

  • Advanced Level Certificate (High School Diploma) or equivalent qualification.

Experience Requirements

  • Proven experience as a professional driver.
  • Experience in a university, NGO, healthcare institution, or corporate environment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of local and regional transportation routes.
  • Demonstrated record of safe driving practices and responsible vehicle operation.

License Requirements

  • Valid Class D Driving License.
  • D1 License is considered an advantage.

Salary & Compensation

Estimated Monthly Salary: RWF 450,000 – RWF 550,000
