Job Overview

This role is central to our mission of digitizing Rwanda’s agriculture. The Agricultural Data Analyst will design and implement data models to optimize crop yields, monitor farm performance, and support decision-making for over 10,000 farmers in the Nyamagabe region. The position requires collaboration with agronomists, data engineers, and local cooperatives to ensure actionable insights drive sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, process, and analyze agricultural data from IoT sensors, satellite imagery, and farmer surveys.
  • Develop predictive models for crop yield forecasting and pest outbreak prediction.
  • li>Create dashboards and reports for stakeholders, including government partners and farming cooperatives.

  • Collaborate with agronomists to validate data accuracy and refine analytical frameworks.
  • Design training programs for farmers on using mobile apps for farm data collection.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL for data analysis.
  • Experience with geospatial data tools (QGIS, ArcGIS) or remote sensing technologies.
  • Knowledge of Rwandan agricultural practices and crop cycles.
  • Strong communication skills to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) for data storage and processing.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Data Science, or Environmental Informatics.
  • Master’s degree preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

  • 3-5 years in agricultural data analysis or agri-tech project management.
  • Previous work in Rwanda’s rural development sector is a significant advantage.

Salary

2,500,000 – 3,500,000 SSP annually, with performance-based bonuses.
