Job Overview
The Cold Chain Logistics Manager will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of temperature‑controlled supply chain processes for all perishable beverage products. This critical position ensures that products are stored, transported, and delivered within strict temperature parameters to preserve quality, safety, and brand reputation. Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, the manager will collaborate with production, quality assurance, sales, and external logistics partners to develop resilient cold chain solutions that meet both local regulatory requirements and global best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cold chain strategies, including route planning, carrier selection, and temperature monitoring protocols.
- Oversee the operation of refrigerated warehouses, trucks, and handling equipment to ensure compliance with SSP temperature standards.
- Implement real‑time temperature tracking technologies and data analytics to identify deviations and drive corrective actions.
- Coordinate with production teams to align manufacturing schedules with cold storage capacity and distribution timelines.
- Manage relationships with third‑party logistics providers, negotiating service level agreements that guarantee temperature integrity.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments of cold chain assets, recommending upgrades or maintenance as needed.
- Lead incident investigations related to temperature excursions, documenting root causes and preventive measures.
- Prepare and present performance dashboards to senior leadership, highlighting key metrics such as temperature compliance, delivery punctuality, and cost efficiency.
Required Skills
- Deep knowledge of cold chain logistics, refrigerated transport, and temperature‑sensitive product handling.
- Proficiency in supply chain management software (e.g., SAP TM, Oracle SCM) and IoT temperature monitoring tools.
- Strong analytical abilities with experience interpreting data to drive process improvements.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Leadership capabilities to coach and develop a multidisciplinary logistics team.
- Effective communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda, both written and verbal.
- Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on proactive risk mitigation.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Cold Chain Management certification are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of five years’ experience managing cold chain operations within the beverage, food, or pharmaceutical sectors, with a proven track record of improving temperature compliance and reducing logistics costs.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,800,000 to SSP 2,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
