Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geophysics Research Scientist to join our team in Musanze, Rwanda. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in geophysics, with a focus on understanding the Earth’s natural resources and mitigating the effects of climate change.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Geophysics and at least 8 years of experience in the field. They will be responsible for designing and implementing research projects, collecting and analyzing data, and publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for collaborating with other scientists and experts within the BGS and with external partners, and for communicating research findings to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement research projects in geophysics
- Collect and analyze data from a variety of sources, including field observations, laboratory experiments and remote sensing
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Collaborate with other scientists and experts within the BGS and with external partners
- Communicate research findings to stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders and the general public
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Geophysics or a related field
- At least 8 years of experience in geophysics research
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
