Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Offshore Wind Farm Structural Integrity Engineer to join our pioneering team in Rubavu. This role is central to ensuring the long-term safety, reliability, and performance of offshore wind turbine foundations and substructures in Lake Kivu. You will be responsible for developing and implementing integrity management strategies, conducting advanced structural analyses, and leading inspection programs. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the structural integrity management (SIM) plan for offshore wind farm foundations, including monopiles and jacket structures.
  • Perform detailed structural analyses and assessments using finite element analysis (FEA) software to evaluate load capacities, fatigue life, and ultimate limit states.
  • Plan and oversee offshore structural inspection campaigns, including remotely operated vehicle (ROV) surveys and diver inspections, interpreting results to assess condition.
  • Correlate inspection data with analytical models to predict remaining useful life and recommend optimal inspection and maintenance intervals.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with international standards (e.g., DNV, ISO).
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations for any structural anomalies or defects, developing corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with design and construction teams to provide integrity-focused input for new projects and potential design modifications.
  • Monitor environmental loads and structural response data from the wind farm’s condition monitoring systems.
  • Manage budgets and schedules for integrity-related activities and contractor services.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements in non-destructive testing (NDT) and structural health monitoring (SHM) for offshore applications.

Required Skills

  • Expert proficiency in structural analysis software such as SESAM, SACS, or ANSYS.
  • In-depth knowledge of offshore design codes and standards (DNV, API, ISO).
  • Strong understanding of fatigue analysis, fracture mechanics, and corrosion protection systems for marine environments.
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical data into actionable insights.
  • Proven project management capabilities, with experience managing technical contractors and budgets.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Commitment to the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental protection.

Education

A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a closely related field is required. A Chartered Engineer status or progress towards professional engineering certification is highly desirable. Additional certifications in offshore engineering, welding inspection, or non-destructive testing are significant advantages.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in the integrity management, design, or analysis of offshore structures, preferably within the oil & gas or offshore wind industry. Experience with offshore wind turbine foundations is a major advantage. Candidates must have a demonstrated track record of managing structural integrity programs and conducting complex engineering assessments. Experience working in an international, multi-cultural project environment is preferred.
