Job Overview

AngloGold Ashanti Rwanda seeks a qualified Geotechnical Engineer to support mining operations in Gicumbi. This role involves analyzing subsurface conditions, designing mining structures, and ensuring operational safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize resource extraction while minimizing environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical site assessments and stability analyses for mining operations.
  • Design and implement ground support systems for tunnels and open-pit mines.
  • Collaborate with mining engineers to optimize excavation methods and resource recovery.
  • Monitor and report on rock mass behavior to ensure operational safety.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability standards.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Rocscience, AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of mining safety protocols and risk management.
  • Experience with subsurface mapping and rock mechanics analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills for complex geological challenges.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Mining Engineering.

Salary

3,500,000 SSP – 5,000,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
