Since inception, Letshego Rwanda has operated as a regulated credit-only microfinance company. In 2013, it obtained a deposit-taking microfinance license from the National Bank of Rwanda.

Letshego Holdings Limited was incorporated in 1998 and is headquartered in Gaborone. It has been publicly listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) since 2002. The group focuses on inclusive finance with consumer, micro-lending, and deposit-taking subsidiaries across sub-Saharan Africa.

An opening has arisen within Letshego Rwanda Limited (LRL) for the below-mentioned position. This role is tenable at LRL, and the incumbent will serve as a key member of the Country Management Team (CMC).

Position Details

Position: Internal Auditor
Reports To: CEO (Administrative) and Board of Directors (Technical)
Location: Head Office (Kigali, Rwanda)

Purpose of the Job

To lead the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of credit risk across the organization by developing and implementing effective risk management policies, frameworks, and tools.

The role ensures that lending and credit activities align with the organization’s risk appetite and regulatory requirements while supporting sustainable business growth through strong credit risk practices and strategic insights.

Key Accountabilities

• Develop and implement country-level internal audit strategic and operational plans
• Manage internal audit policies, guidelines, and charters for country adoption
• Implement the Assurance Model in collaboration with Risk, Compliance, External Auditors, and Regulators
• Ensure adherence to International Internal Audit (IIA) standards
• Execute approved audit plans and report to the Country Audit Committee
• Present audit findings to the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, and Country Management
• Ensure governance and control systems are effectively reviewed
• Implement Board-approved strategies and develop risk control processes
• Identify, measure, monitor, and control institutional risks

Experience and Qualifications Required

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Microfinance, Banking, BIT, or related field
• Professional qualification required: CPA, ACCA, CIA, CISA, or CFE
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
